As far as real estate trends, the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors noted this week that national home sales continue to slow nationally. The decline in the number of home sales for July was even greater in Northern Virginia than the national rate.
“Interest rate increases definitely slowed home sales nationally and locally in July. However, our region’s home sales slipped more since there were so few homes to buy,” NVAR CEO Ryan McLaughlin said in a statement Friday. “For our region, the sales decline was a combination of factors — supply, demand, and buyers taking a step back to wait for a more rational market.”
Despite fewer home sales in Northern Virginia, homes prices continued to bump up. In Northern Virginia, the median sold price for a home in July 2022 was $650,000, up 1.6 percent compared to July 2021, according to NVAR.
