Eighty French travel agents have arrived in the country this morning (21) to promote Sri Lankan tourism.
After visiting and observing the hotel system in the areas of Kandy, Bentota and Colombo, this group is expected to bring tourists from France to Sri Lanka.
A delegation of SriLankan Airlines, representatives of hotels, a delegation of bus service companies that provide transport facilities to tourists and a group of officials from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau were present at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake to welcome the French delegation.

Sri Lankans will experience a 2-hour power cut daily during the weekend.
According to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL),  groups ABCDEFGHIJKLPQRSTUVW will face a one-hour powercut during daytime and nighttime each.

Indictments were filed in the presence of Colombo High Court Judge Damith Thotawatte against five accused including the Captain of the X-Press Pearl vessel, and the location agent on Friday (25). 
The indictments come almost 18 months after the disaster took place.
X-Press Pearl was carrying 1,486 containers when it caught fire off Colombo on May 20, 2021, and  sank off the coast of Colombo several days later.
The Attorney General had filed the case against eight people, including the five accused, indicting them under eight counts for committing offenses under the Marine Pollution Prevention (MPP) Act No 59 of 1981.
The Colombo High Court Judge ordered for notice to be sent to the three accused who did not appear in court on Friday (25) to appear on the 12th of December 2022.
The five accused who were present in court on Friday (25) were barred from travelling overseas, and they were released on a personal bail of Rs. 1 Million each.

A private plaint filed against Colombo SSP Roshan Dias and ASP Nalin Dilruk, for allegedly blocking a peaceful protest on October 10, was dismissed by Colombo Fort Magistrate today (25).
The complainant accused the two police officers of putting up barricades to block the demonstration.
The private plaint, filed by media activist Tharindu Jayawardena, was called before Magistrate Thilina Gamage.
